New York Part 3

Oh my gosh this was such a fun day. We ate breakfast at Max Brenner. I heard about this place from stalking some blogs and I knew we had to go. Everything looked so good it was hard to pick what I wanted for breakfast. I ordered the After Party Breakfast. It was waffles with strawberries, blueberries and white chocolate chunks with pure melted chocolate to drizzle on top. I was in heaven. You would think this would set you over the edge for breakfast but no way, it was so good.

Next stop was Canal St. I couldn’t wait to make my purchases. I bought two purses, perfume and a Tiffany ring. This was such a crazy place. Beware of the perfume sellers. Seriously. They are ruthless. One time Jen and I were buying our purses in the secret room and the lady wouldn’t let us out. Her friend put up a bar in the doorway. I asked if I could go and she “no you stay here” I looked at Jen and this other lady looked at me like oh no. So I chilled for a little longer and then asked if I could go and again she said “No”. I was starting to kind of get a little nervous and wondered how long I was going to be stuck back in the secret room. She finally let us go, I think I was only back there for a couple minutes but still it wasn’t my favorite.

We went back to the hotel and dropped our stuff off and took a picture of everyone’s purchases. Jen bought purses and sunglasses for her sister and her mom. We each came home with a purse or two :)

On our way to Central Park we stopped at Gray’s Papaya for a Hot Dog. You can’t go to New York and not have a hot dog. They were so good.

Central Park was so much fun. I loved it. We had to see the famous fountain and the bridge that is in almost every movie that is filmed in Central Park. Just like the bus tour Central Park accepts all kinds. We were walking under a tunnel and there was a half naked Indian playing a violin. I could not stop laughing it was the best thing ever. Jen got some great footage click on the movie below.

Next stop Brooklyn to Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. This pizza place is under the Brooklyn Bridge. It was so cool because we were walking and all of a sudden there’s the bridge. There was a 30 minute wait so Emily and I went to take some pictures. The owner would come out every once in a while and make sure we stayed behind the line of the sidewalk. He definitely had an order to how things were done. It was a small restaurant; they really packed you in. The pizza was amazing. We were so hungry we slammed the pizza and were back on our way.

After the pizza we went back to Magnolia Bakery for one last cupcake.

Then another Rain Storm hit. Seriously :)

Sunday we went to Macy's and walk around. Seriously that place is huge. Then it was back to the hotel to wait for our taxi to take us to the airport. We had such a great time and it was fun to celebrate my birthday in New York. I can't wait to go back.

New York Part 2

This is what we like to call the "rainy day". It seriously rained all day long. We started out at Rockefeller Plaza for the New Kids on the Block concert. They were on the Today show and being a huge fan back in the days I had to go.
Here we are ready to rock out to New Kids on the Block

They started off singing a melody of songs, Step by Step, Hanging Tough, Please don’t go girl, and You’ve got the right stuff. You better believe my hand was waving during Hanging Tough. Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh just hanging tough! And you can’t forget the dance during the Oh Oh Oh the right stuff. Then they sang their new song Summertime and ended with the song Tonight. It was a blast to be there even though it was raining and it was hard to see with all the umbrellas.

Our next stop was shopping on 5th Avenue. Our destination was Tiffany & Co. Our only problem was we were on the opposite end and had to walk a long way in the rain, but it was fun. By the time we got to Tiffany’s we were really wet. Jen bought a ring, Em and I each bought a necklace. Check out our pant legs. You can tell how wet we were from the rain.

Later we met up with our cousin Clay and he gave us a tour of the financial district.

Jamie and Emily infront of the New York Stock Exchange.

Then off to the Broadway show Mary Poppins. This was such a cute show. I loved it. I would definitely recommend it. As you can tell it’s still raining :)
After the show we went to Serendipity's for a Frozen Hot Chocolate. Oh my gosh I've heard about these and I was so excited to try one. It definitely is as good as everyone says.

Well this was the end of the rainy day. Stay tuned for part three.

New York City Part 1

I love New York! We had so much fun. Our trip was awesome. Between the four of us we have so many pictures I am going to have to do a post for each day. Here we are at the airport. Jen, me and Emily excited to start our trip. Our flight left at 12:30 am. I was hoping to get some sleep on the plane but that didn't really happen. We bought a neck pillow to help the situation. I think it helped a little but still it is a crazy flight. Once we got off the plane we met my sister Jamie who was flying in from California. We located our bags and got a taxi. We all brought big bags for all the shopping we were going to do on Canal St. The man that was getting a taxi for us shook his head and said "you guys are going to have to step a side for a bigger taxi, gees are you moving here". He had a really strong New York acent that made us laugh.

This was our hotel. I was a little nervous because the internet said it was a one star hotel, but it ended up being really nice. I was so happy the hotel let us check in right away which was pretty much the best thing ever after you have been up for almost 24 hours. I guess you can subtract the hour and forty five minutes I dozed on the flight. But still it was the greatest news ever.
Once we got settled in we made our way to Times Square. We decided to do one of the double decker bus tours. They have a man on everyone corner stalking all the tourist. I must have been a magnet or something because every corner we came to they totally attacked me and tried to get me to buy a ticket. Finally we gave in and bought a ticket.
This began our three hour tour. I actually thought the bus tour was a lot of fun. We were able to see all of downtown New York. I do have to say the tour bus accepts all kinds, we never had a dull moment. One word of advice if you ever go on one of these watch out for tree branches they like to attack the tourist :) Look at the lady behind Jamie, She kept saying she was going to throw up. Every stop we came to Jamie and Jen were praying she would get off. I didn't realize I had actually got a picture of her until now, it still makes me laugh.

Here are some of the sites we saw on our tour.

After the we got off the big red bus we ate at Carnegie Deli. Holy cow the sandwiches are huge and I totally forgot to take a picture, but trust me they were big. Then we went to Magnolia Bakery. Seriously the cupcakes here are to die for. My favorite was the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. Yummy! I am craving one now.

Well this is day one so far. Stay tuned for more adventures of us in NYC!
